December 26, 2017

A job in this industry can be highly exciting and adventurous and even pays well. In India, the travel industry hopes to create 46 million job opportunities by 2025.

According to a report published by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), India could possibly add another Rs. 8, 50,000 crores by the year 2020-just through tourism! WTTC calculated that tourism generated 8.31 lakh crore or 6.3 per cent of the nation's GDP in 2015 and supported 37.315 million jobs, which is about 8.7 per cent of its total employment.

Experience is the most important factor in this field. However, there are many colleges, like César Ritz College and HTMi Hotel and Tourism Management Institute Switzerland that offer Bachelor's or Master's degrees and diplomas courses in various sectors of travel and tourism such as management in tourism, travel or hotels. You can join an undergraduate course right after completing class 12th. A postgraduate degree can be helpful in getting into Positions as managers or in administration need a post graduate degree.

Without further ado, here’s five reasons why you should pursue this exciting career path, straight from the mouths of recent graduates.

1. Working in tourism is a way to see the world

Most travel and tourism jobs come with some pretty cool perks – staff members usually get to experience their company’s product or service for free or for heavily discounted rates.

4. It’s so much FUN

"Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life." Ever wondered why people who work in tourism always have such big smiles on their faces?
